EXCHANGE OP SITES

Mr. E. Dixon, M.P., has -received the following telegram from the Hon. j R. H. Rhodes, Minister of Defence: J '"Y<our telegram received., Both the Police and Defence Departments have agreed to exchange of sites, but the proposal wilkrequire to be laid before Parliament under sections six and seven of the Public Reserves and Domains Act. The Lands Department, to which the matter is at present under reference, proposes; however, to advise the departments concerned that there is no reason why they should not proceed to effect the exchanges." I The telegram refers to the site behind the courthouse for the new police station, and the Hawera people will be pleased to know that the desired arrangement has every prospect of being given full effect to^ Mr. Dixon has spent much time upon the matter, and ; deserves credit for good work which he j has done. It is desirable to have the | police station as near the courthouse as possible, and the proposal which the Minister mentions in his telegram is that which it has been desired by .
