EGMONT SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

PEOPLE'S DAY. The fine balmy weather that succeeded the storm of the previous night at-' tracted a large crowd to the scene of/ the dog trials, and it was recorded that the largest attendance was present which the club has yet had. The work of the crack dogs in the Short Head was kept for the afternoon, and everyone present thoroughly appreciated1 their hne display of sheep yarding. Mr1 J. R. Corrigan's Marvel w*as quite too' goo(T for Mr Snowdon's pet sheep, and yarded it in almost as few min-' utes. ■ I _ X ne. club are much indebted to the Manaia ladies for their work in the refreshment tent, and feel gratified that they secured the satisfactory sum of over £30 towards the Russian Famine' Relief Fund. They also thank the gentlemen of Manaia and district for much help. . i The-woric of Mr R, Hicks as official timekeeper, and Mr A. L. Campbell as flag steward—they have both acted for many years—was of great service both - to the judge and to the club. It is interesting to record that so far as the committee are aware only three of the original members of the club who were members way back in 1901 were present this year—Messrs B Lysaght (patron), J. H. Baker (president), and W. B. Grant (judge). The secretary returns special thanks to the Press for much cordial assistance The Tongahoe Cup has now been won outright by Mr M. M. Scott, who won it in 1914 with Sweep, in 1920 with Lad, and 1922 with Swift. It is a coincidence that old Sweep was entered for this year's trials, but died I betore the meeting. t Additional results are as follows: } Class. ll.—Heading about 400 yards, i bringing back, driving through one set < *o£ hurdles 9ft apart, aiid drive 50 1 yards to pen and yard..
