Wilford (leader of the Opposition) gaye1 notice to ask the Minister of Agri-' culture whether, in view of the fact that our meat was evidently being ex- i ploited at Home, and in view of the! fact that the middleman was making ' huge profits, would the Government sympathetically assist in the development of a system of marketing New Zealand meat on a consignment system, through depots in various parts of England, such as was proposed by the N.Z. Farmers' Union scheme, with the object of eliminating trusts altogether. The question further ask*' ,ed would the Government follow the j Danish plan of supporting a co-opera-tive organisation for such a purpose by a Joan or grant, imd further, would it; give the producers any legislative help' they might require in elaboration of such a scheme.
