PARLIAMENTARY NOTES
- COMPLIMENTS ASTRAY
(By Telegraph—Special to the Star.)
WELLINGTON, Oct. 5
There was an amusing sequel to congratulations extended by Mr Isitt to the new member for Patea.— He remarked that while he would have pre- j ferred to have been able to congratu- i late a man of liis own party on being member for Patea, he was glad to be able to congratulate Patea on having had two men of the highest moral calibre seeking its representation. This was said just before the House adjourned for dinner. When business resumed Mr Isitt confessed that these remarks, innocently seeking to place a laurel wreath on the brow of Mr Dixon, had got him into trouble with the extreme Labour Party, who held that he had reflected on the Labour candidate. Mb Isitt hastened to assure them that he ..meant no reflection upon the Labour candidate, who was a most excellent man.
