MANGAMINGI
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
i The dairying season here, as in other parts, is again with us. Cows are coming in every day and there is every indication of a much increased supply over other years. Feed at present is not too plentiful, as the weather has been somewhat on the dry side, but at time of writing there aro signs of approaching rain, which, with the warm days we have had, .lately, should make a considerable improvement. The local Tennis Committee, being desirous of having their court in good condition before the opening of tho coming season, engaged the services of Mr. A. Hindi, of Eltham, who has now completed the work. Being laid Sown in me usual lawn mixtures, it should, during the coming season, be a big improvement on what it has been in the past.
[ A meeting of thopo interested in forming a cricket club was hold on Friday night, when it was decided to form a team. As there aro already on hand bats, net, etc., left by a former club, no groat expense will be required. 1 regret having to .record that contemptible thieving has been going on ia the valley for pome time past. Settlers have on several occasions neon missing things off their properties. Lately tho contents of the hall have received the attention of someone. A considerable amount of crockery has been taken from there, and. as these goods are paid for by the public for the use of the public, it ia almost inconceivable that anyone should bo mean enough to touch them. However, tho matter is in the hands of tho police, and it is hoped the perpetrators wfil be brought to book. The local school opened to-day after a fortnight's spring holidays.
