PROGRESS COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the JEltham Progress Committee was held at the Tmuiicipal buildings. Present: Messrs I. J. Bndgex (chairman), C. A. Wilkinson J. Taylor, E. Clare, and C. L. Wilson. . On the suggestion of the chairman it was decided to appoint Messrs S Holder, A. F. Caff, and E. Crabtree to the committee, subject to their consent. ; The chairman reported that the last picture mathiee was ran at a loss of approximately £4.—After a brief discussion it-was decided to approach tho pictures Committee of ; the borough Council with a suggestion 'thaf% taonthly Saturday' picture matinee be i arranged and Messrs Bridger, Wilkinson Taylor, and Clare'were appointed a sub-committee to wait upon the pictare committee of the Borough Council in this connection. <*T£? ck™ '©ported the, finances <»f the committee wcsfe not very strong subscription* for the year not "yet havl ing been collected. Accounts amounting to £"27 19s 2d! were pased for payment. An interesting discussion, followed concerning advertising, members expressing a)>p*eciahW <£ the success attendm g> past efforfc in this direction, and.it was unanimously resolved. that \- an endeavour be made.to arrange anotner advertising campaign to boost the toro andite businesses. Jn the course of the discussion Mr.iC. L. Wilson. •' ■ It yras decided to try a joirit secretaryship, consisting of lady and gentleTnan Mrs. C. Ir. Wilson and Mr. Cropiey being, elected. General committee • Messsr Phillips, Tayler, Smith, andi Mrs. Bennett and Misses Whiting and Wilson were elected. Match committee: Messrs Baker, Crump and Wilson. ■ Ground committee: Messrs J L Campbell and C. Baker (president). VTlae following were". appointed a todies' committee: Mesdanies Wilson Bennett, and Stewart, Misses Jenkins, Whiting, Wilson, A. Jenkins, and D. Baker, with power to add. It was, proposed that the offer made i>y Mr. H. Harrison for the sale of the back portion of his section for £120, leased with compulsory purchasing «lause, interest at 6 per cent., terms . 3| years,- be considered' by the general committee and reported on later. It -was proposed that it be a recom-mendation-to the general committee to, t?o into the matter of a permanent care■taker for the whole of. the grounds, and that the Bowling .and Croquet Clubs lie interviewed with that object in , view, with power to act. It was decided that a dance be held an.aid.of the.club's funds and the ladies present be a committee to make the ■necessary arrangements.
