LADIES' TOURNAMENT
PALMERSTON N., Sep. 10.' j The annual' tournament under the aegis of the New Zealand Ladies' j Hockey Association commenced today. Fourteen teams are competing,! the largest entries yet received. Play is divided into two sections of two games in the morning and four in the afternoon. The results of the morn- J i ing games were: ' I A Section—Wairarapa 8, Feilding 0. j : B Section—Otago 9, Manawatu B 1.
It has been decided to hold a field day. at Turuturu-MokaL on Wednesday next, when the committee will be on ' the ground to explain the intentions for the development of the reserve. The Mayor (Mr. E. Dixon, M.P.) will be present, and will give an outline of the proposals. All members of sports bodies and the public generally are invited to attend. Free motor transport will be provided, the cars leaving the Borough Chambers at 2.30 p.m. In the evening the annual meeting of the Parks and Reserves Improvement Comnuttee will be held at the- Borough Chambers at 8 ocloek, to which all interested are invited.
