NEW REGULATIONS. (BY TELEOBAPH—FEEgS ASSOCIATION) I • WELLINGTON, Sept. 8. By Order-m-Council gazetted, regulations have been made providing that in the case of » telephone exchange which is not open continuously, the Minister ot lelegraphs may agree to a group of two or more lines being joined together on the switchboard for the purpose of providing means of. intercommunication outside of ordinary hours of exchange attendance. The charges are as follows tor each line so connected:. (a) At an exchange with 151 subscribers or over • , *?— annum; (b)- at an exchange with 160 subscribers^and less,- sg-per annum; the number of. individual subscribers connected in one group not to exceed 10. In cases where the whole of the lines so connected together consist either partially or wholly of party lines, the number of individual subscribers shall not exceed fourteen. No line shall be connected with more than one group. It is further provided that if the department considers such arrangement practicable, exchange subscribers may, in the case* oF sickness or other emergency, be connected" outside ordinary hours of exchange attendance with a local doctor or with a group of which the doctor's connection forms part, &nd such connection shall be free of charge. This free night'service is limited to the special requirements mentioned, and to a period of one week. The Department will allot to subscribers special code calls to be used exclusively for intercommunication outside ordinary hours of exchangeattendance with other subscribers of group.
