Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Co., Ltd. (Hawera branch) report: At Opunake, tin tho 22nd uit., the yarding sold at full market rates. Yearling heifers (mixed colours) £2 10s to £3 14s, empty heifers to £5 12s 6d, spiinging heifers (good) £12 10s to £15, backward and inferior £9 to £10, cows (host) £20. At Palmer road, on the 26th nit., we had a full yarding of all classes of stock. Bidding was brisk throughout, and a very good sale resulted. A pen of choice grade Jersey yearling heifers (well grown) made tho ton prico for this season; these made £9 16s. Jersey 2-year springing heifers (best) £18 to £28, backward £11 to £15, other breeds £9 lO.s to £13 ss, fat and forward cows £3 to £"i. empty Jersey heifers £7 to £7 10s, boners at market value, yearling heifers (Jersey cross i and Holstein) £3, store pigp 28s to 375, fat hoggets 14s. At Opunake, on the 27th ult., we held out spring horse fair. Draughts made to £40 f hack and harness horses £8 to £23, dray and harness £37 ,10s. At Kakaramea, on Monday, wo held our usual fortnightly sale, and also conducted a sale of Mr S. C. Tonks' annual draft of springing heifers. The heifers were all three-year-olds, well into the Jersey, in tin-top condition, and close to profit. These were a choice lot, and met with very spirited bidding, the line of forty making the high average of £20. The prices ranged from £15 to £33 On account of other vendors prices were as follows: Springing heifers (good) £15 to £19, others £7 to £10 10s, sow and litter £8 ss, store pigs (small) to 365, fat hoggets lls 4d, empty cows £1 10s to £2 ss.
At Eitharu, on the 30thuIt., wo held our fortnightly sal©, owing to the Hawera races being held on Wednesday. Fat and forward wethers made lls ttf 13s Cd, forward cows to £2 14s, springing cows £13 to £18 10a 3 heifers (inferior) £7.
On Thursday, at Hawera, we had a good yarding of both sheep and dairy cattle. Apart from yearlings few store cattle came forward. Practically th» whole yarding was sold under the hammer at full market rates. We quote: Fat and forward wethers 15s 6d, 4 and 6-tooth-^wcthers lls 2d, hoggets to 7s 9d, store pigs to 565, smaH pigs 37s to 425, suckers 13s cows (good condition) to £3 15s, stores 15s to 255, Jersey yearling heifers to £6 7s 6d, others (well grown) £4 to £4 10s, springing heifers (good) £12 10s to £15, backward and inferior sorts £7 to £10 10s, cows (medium) to £15, old and inferior £7 to £10.
On Friday, at Waverley, we had only a small entry. Prices at late rates.' '
