STRATFORD MODEL DAIRY FARM
The .regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Model Dairy Farm was held on Tuesday, 9th instant, there being present: Messrs J. W. Deem (chairman), J. B. Richards, S, Pitt, and W. H. Were.
With reference to the manager's residence the building committee reported- that the progress during the past month could not be considered satisfactory,, and recommended that the attention of Messrs Duffill and Gibson, architects, be drawn to this matter. Stumping extra area.—Mr Richards reported that he had made arrangements in this connection, but the contract had riot been signed. Sale of milk.—Mr Richards reported that this ma£ter had lapsed. At this stage the correspondence was read arid received.
Oamatu Chamber of Commerce wrote requesting information as to the steps to be taken in connection with establishing a farm similar to the Stratford Model Dairy Farm.—lt was resolved that the secretary reply forwarding information as, resquested. Resignation from executive committee. —The resignation of Mr W. Wickham was accepted with xegret, and a vote of appreciation accorded *in consideration of services rendered by him as a member of the executive committee.
Insurance on manager's residence.— This matter was left in the hands of the secretary with power to act. The stock committee reported that four cows had been disposed of. The committee recommend th~at the few surplus cows be held over temporarily. The manager's report for period 12/7/21 to, 9/8/21, was received and adopted, and is as foliows:—Crops: 1 he. balance of swedes are being fed off by cows and young stock, and a run off into rough paddock next to the Patea river, which was stumped; swedes will carry stock well into September Mangolds were lifted by fhe 21stof July with the exception of about a quarter of an acre to be carted. Carrots are being fed to milking cows, including a few mangolds at night time. Hay: Iwo stacks are finished and the third one started. Stock : Number of cows m milk, 16; quantity of milk, 60Olbs, ■ eve^y. other day being taken to the factory. Four cows were sold during tiie month, and six heifer calves are being reared to date.
