FOOTBALL.

MAORI RUGBY UNION.

(BY TELEGRAPH —PBESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. A movement is on foot to form a New Zealand Maori Rugby Union. The matter will be submitted to the New Zealand Union. The idea is to create competition, exclusively for natives. A shield has already been given. The competition is to be open to any Maori team. As an alternative to the New Zealand Union governing the competition it is suggested that the Maori Union should take charge of the movement, which has been inaugurated in the Rangitlikei and Wanganui district, and the office-bearers suggested are all from that locality, with Rangi Marumaru, of Rata, as president.
