; ■ —o The usual monthly meeting of the committee was held on Thursday, when there were present: Messrs J W Dee m (chair), F. Gamlin, W. H. Le genung, E. Long, and T. McPhillips. jMr Glasson wag also in attendance. REPORT. The following report was submitted: The last half or tile month was very boisterous, with high winds and heavy rain. This has caused considerable 1 cutting up of fields where roots had to he-, carted out. The cold wind also checked the growth'of grass. Swedes-^-These were finished about the' middle of July. Carrots—These are being fed to the cows in profit, and about half the area has been used. Mangolds—These® were all pulled by July 20. They are being fed to the dry stock and in conjunction with carrots to the cows in profit. About one-fourth of the crop has been eaten. Hay—With care there should be sufficient to carry us along until grass is plentiful.;. , , ■ - Herd—The herd has improved considerably, and all cows are now "in good condition. Twenty-five cows and four two-year-old heifers have calved, and a good many more should be in during the next week or two. ' So far II heifer calves out of good cows have been saved. Three thousand two hundred and fifty-three pounds of-milk, with a 4.0 test, was sent to the factory in July, and we are now sending approximately 6001b per day. Pigs—The big sow. has farrowed. The Eig house authorised at last meeting as been erected. Cottage—The work authorised has been completed. Boxthorn Planting—Owing to stress of work this has not yet been put in hand, but it is hoped to get a start with it in the course of a few days. The report as read was adopted. It was decided to leave the selection of the calf meal to be used to the manager, and that the calfskins be sold through the Farmers' Co-op. , The question of securing an extra horse for use on the farm for a few I weeks was left in the hands of the chairman; also a letter from the Oamaru Chamber of Commerce asking j for full particulars re the establishing I and working of the farm.
