WAVERLEY

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A. distressing accident happened at Moeawatea on Monday morning. It appears that Mr Bellerby was felling bush, when in some unaccountable way the axe slipped, cutting him very seriously about the ankle. He was immediately brought out by pack horse until met by Mr Thorpe's trap, who brought him Waverley, reaching here at midnight on Monday. Mr Bellerby was taken on to Wanganui by train on Tuesday.
