MASTERTON, Aug. 10. Canterbury defeated W airarapa today in fine weather on a heavy ground by 8 points to 3. The game was not brilliant, but very fast and exciting. Early in the game Matson kicked a penalty goal for Wairarapa, -nbo were having the best of play, Canterbury bein.'s frequently on the defensive.
