The meeting held last Wednesday in the local hall-^was well attended, <jop._ sidering the boisterous state of the w-eather. Mr. Harding was voted to the chair, and explained that the object of the meeting was to consider the question of a war memorial for Awatuna strict A deputation from Kaponga attended with a view to arranging for Awatuna to join in with the Kaponga scheme for a central district war memorial, to be erected at Kaponga. Messrs Allen and Cook spoke for the deputation, and explained that it was the object of Kaponga residents to go in for a scheme, to be approved by all i contributing districts, but they did not wish to. interfere with any local schemes tUaff might be contemplated and would Si anX tiiev could to the same.
