THE AGE LIMIT.
6iY jTELEGHAPH—PHESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug: 9. It -was stated to a New. Zealand Times reporter that the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants is strongly urging^that all public servants eligible to retire after over^4o years' service should be retired. The question of retrenchment in the public service was discussed by various, •branches' meetings. The opinion was expressed that, before anything else .is done in that direction, men with over 40 years' service entitled to retire should be called upon to. do so. Strong, protest was made against the dismissal of' men not entitled ,to pensions, so! long as those over the age "of retire^ ment are retained.
