THIRD TEST MATCH. AUSTRALIA 230 FOR SEVEN WICKETS. \X CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT LONDON, July 5. The weather was sunny and hot when the test match was resumed to-day at Leeds. The attendance, was moderate. The wicket was unchanged. Dough>s was absent. Australia made 407 in their first- innings, and England re.lied with 250, and when stumps were drawjc on the second day Australia had lost two wickets for 143 in ih«ir second innings. There was .';->,ht haze over the ground to-day when Andrews (78) ?-"<! Carter (3) resumed Australia s s-ccond innings. Carter began by Pitting Parkin so crisply through slips that ■Durston {who was deputy for Douglas) was stationed on the edge of the foundry. Andrews was in obvious difficulties in Woolley's first over, several balls beating him. It was still a batsman's wicket, and despite fine bowling both were out on a rapid run-making mission, putting on 40 in twenty minutes. Anything loose was converted into a four, Carter exploiting that sup shot which is part of himself, and Andrews frequently finding the ropes behind the wickets. Andrews quietened down on approaching the century. At 189 Jupp relieved Parkin. > At 193 Jupp got Andrews. Carter was then 30. Pellew came in, and the i pair added thirty. Then Pellew went^ ! Carter was now 47. Armstrong, joined him. but before a run was added Up- ! ter was out leg before to Parkin. Gregory then partnered Armstrong. i When he had made 3 Gregory was I caught by Jupp off White. Armstrong had not yet opened his account. 1 Details'of the play are: I ENGLAND.
