. - FARMERS' UNION. Tlje monthly meeting of the Far. wn 1 Union was held last Saturday evening- There was a good, attendance. Mr Jas. Dakers presiding. The chairman extended a very hearty wel«on)e to the new proprietor of the Waimate Witness- On the motion of Mr Sandford, a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Powell, the late editor of the Witness, for his good services in fathering the work of the Farmers' Union. Mr^ E. Betts moved t t a'vote of' thanks and appreciation to Mr Wood, Government Veterinary *• Surgeon, for-his splendid address last week. The deceased was re- ■ <cently a teacher at the local convent, and had endeared herself to parents i and children alike- She was of a very disposition. Rev.
