G4SBORNE, Feb. 18. The East Coast Parliamentary party this morning journeyed from Opotiki to Motu, traversing the Moto gorge, from which magnificent views of rugged hills andJbush. scenery, with the waters of the Bay of Plenty glistening in the distance, were obtained. After luncheon at Motu the party visits the timber mills of the district and inspects, the site of the Waikohu hydroelectric works, which, it is hoped, win supply the Gishorne district with'electricity within two years. Extensive tunnelling operations are in process, and a site is stripped for the erection of a large dam across the Waifcohu Valley. A large party of townspeople interested' in the Waikohu projtect went out .to meet the visitors and show them over the works. Te Raraka wii: be. reached for afternoon tea, and an official welcome will be tendered ?u Gisborne this evening, occasion being taken at the same time to make a presentation from the Gis borne people to Sir James Carrol in recognition of nis long service as their representative.
