BOROUGH LOAN PROPOSALS DEFEATED.
• WAIMATE, Feb 17. Two borough loan polls yesterday resulted in the electric scheme, per suction gas. to cost £50,000, being defeated by 201 votes to 720. There are nearly 800 ratepayers on the roll. The gasworks purchase proposal to cost £10,000 was defeated by 241 votes to <69- '-.-■■
