Unfortunately a wind S^iSpra^g v? from the north-east shortly after the first race was rowed raised^ a nasty Jobblei and prevented any championship events being rowed ! until the evening. Several times the starter had the crews in line, but on. each occasion it was found impossible i %L& 11e oats away. In the chamI pion sculls for instance, au four boats became filled with water, while before - the champion fours, was postponed for : the second time two crews had to row . to shore to empty their skiffs.
