TOWN BOARD

A special meeting of the Manaia Town Board was held on Tuesday evening. Mr Craig was in the chair, and all members were present. It was decided'that application be made to the State Advances Office for the £10,000 available for water and sewerage works at periods and amounts as follows: £1000 on May 20, £2000 on August 20, £3000 on December 20, £4000 on March 20. Comr Meldon spoke regarding the establishment of pipe works in Manaia It was decided that the manager of the Masterton Pipe Co. be interviewed at a meeting of the Board to be held later.

The _ question of appointment ot engineer to the Board was lield oyer for the present. The chairman stated that an informal interview had been held during the afternoon with Mr Basten, of Johnsonville, in respect to the position ot town foreman. After discussion Mr Basten was unanimously appointed to the position, to take' up his duties on March 1. , On the motion "* of Comr." Innes, seconded by Comr. _Comr. Innes moved, and Comr. .Nielson seconded, that owners of property on the creek course within boundaries of town area he notified to clean the same to a specified depth.
