The "direct aetionists" are intimidating the Rand miners, and the outlook is growing uglier.
Thejposition is most confused. While the general executive of the Miners'" Union and the leaders of the" Labour Federation disapprove of the Lang-' laagto trouble as a breach of the agreement with the Chamber of Mines, the extremists forced the general executive of the Union into taking a "ballot, which is now proceeding, for or against a general strike in support of the Langlaagto men. In the meantime, a meeting of the executives of the unions affiliated to lihe Labour Federation resolved that in view of the serious position of the mining industry that the terms offered by the Chamher of Mines to the miners' demands Tie accepted.
