I TOWN BOARD MEETING. | The monthly meeting of. the Manaia _ Town Board was held on Thursday night.' Present: Messrs J. G. Craig (chair), Innes, Nielsen, Christie, Meldon, Hickey, and Edwards. | Correspondence was read from the Bank of New Zealand notifying that the rate of interest on overdrafts would be 6^ per cent. —Received. I The Horticultural Society was grants ed permission to charge foi* admission to the Domain on February 24. i The Department of Labour wrote stating that the change of tbe half-; holiday to Saturday had been noted, j The foreman submitted his report for the montK, which Vras extensive. The, transfer of section. 7 block 9 was v again j disqussed. It was decided to notify the' solicitor that the transfer wduld be .. granted when the fence was cut. . ' „ Four applications for the position of foreman were received, and after consideration it was" decided to ask Mr. F. H. Bastin, of Johnsonville, to interT ;„,v +v.o Board. '. . i A letter was read from the .Advances Office notifying th at £10.000' had been granted towards installing Avater and drainage for Manaia. It was decided that a special meeting be held on Monday nifrht,. when Mr. Sturrock, C.E., wo'»id be present. Tbe foreman said he had commenced tarring. .. - 0 / In Tegard to sections 3 and 14, block 4, it was decided to notify the lessee that the conditions of the lease would have to be carried out. • ■ if Ay .The Waimate Domain and the Domain -YA /balance-sheets were adopted. It was ■' ydecided to sue for rent outstanding on [■'■yd Domain reserve, and also to notify the T tenant that, fences must- be put in' ■ order. ' j Mr. J. "*" j The accounts were passed for payment. ' ! PERSONAL. I It is with deep regret that I' have to record the . death of Mrs. Bristo, j -. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ■R. Hughes, V«f Kapuni. The funeral was largely attended by friends froni all parts of the d:stricfc. The citizens of Manaia and district extend their deepest sym--pathv to Mr. and Mrs. Hughes and family, also Mr. Bristo and the three ';. f*la children who are left to v mourn: the loss of their mother. I
