COAL SHORTAGE AND REMEDY. REQUEST FOR ROYAL COMMISSION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRKPS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 11. At the Industrial Conference reference was made ito the statement that German toys were flooding Britavn, and it was resolved to dispatch. • a-cablegram to the High Commissioner deploring tbe fact .that British traders had. already renewed considerable trading with Germany to the detriment of British manufacturers and workers. It was resolved that the Government be asked to appoint a Royal C-nmmw-s;on to report* on the coal position in the Dominion. The mover, Mr Jenkin, Christchurch, said the commission should report as to the real cause of tbe shortage and what the remedy was. Mr O. 'J. Ward, WelFngton. was eVcted President, and Mr F. Cooper, Christchurch. was apoointed a ronre.■aentative to travel with tbe Tariff Commission to lead the evidence as to the Association's views on the subject . .
