Recently Constable Wplgast was shot dead while attempting to arrest a man in Centennial Park suspected of bagsnatching, and now a man named Speechley has been arrested and committed for trial on a. charge of murdering Constable Wolgast.

Evidence by actual participators in the depredations disclosed that for years the park has been haunted by a big gang known as "The Centennial Park Hundred," who dogged people and indulged in hag-snatching amd blackmailing.
