The Anti-Slavery Society has adopted a resplutionr that the prohibition of intoxicants in mandated areas should equally apply to whites and natives. Sir James Allen wrote • that experience in Samo ( a proved! that it was impossible to apply the anti-liquor rule unless it applied all round. When the meeting was considering "the question of militarisation of natives, a;- coloured mau present -protest■ed: "Yoii maiy pass resolutions till you are blue in the. face, but the next war, within ten years; will be fought chiefly ; by coloured men."
