Barry,; in a letter.to the Daily Telegraph, says: "ArnstV claim to the championship by default does not concern me, but before he consider the world title again he should ioaik to honours in his own country. 3_here are several men in Australia who think they can beat him and persistenUy challenged him. I had a long innings and I think it best to- retire as champion.5 That Arnst or anyone else should claim the title in consequence not be tolerated bY »ny section of "sporting men. I suggest that the championship be decided in each country where sculling is encouraged, that is, in England. Canada, Australasia, and America, and the champions then Jnjbujght together. This would be a " jgreat boon in a great eport.
