ANXIETY IN ENGLAND
BY CABLB-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT
(Received Dec. 17, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON. Dec. 16. Despite counter-attractions the test match is overshadowing other sport in England. The newspapers are featuring discussions on the prospects. Archie MacLaren, in a somewhat gloomy article in Manchester Guardian, fears "that the English batting has never compared with that of Australia. He says he is nervous as regards Gregory's bowling. Contrariwise he fears Parkin's methods or league cricket will not avail m the test matches. Most critics fear Gregory. Ihey expect the Australian fielding will be first-class. They welcome Hitch, s inclusion for the same reason. They expect the Australians to fight with all tho old stubbornness, and anticipate that England's chances will. be improved 2 the wicket is not at its best.
