PREMIER PROMISES EVERY ASSISTANCE.
(Auis.-N.Z. Cable Assn.) . LONDON. Dec. 16. During a conflict at Dunmanway two ■civilians were killed; also Canon Magner. parish priest. Canon Magner was an aged priest who took no part in politics. Hewasapparently shot accidentally while trying ~to save a man who was 'threatened by the Black and Tans. The Irish Labour Party has issued a manifesto advising the "railwaymen to -carry everything the British "authorities are willing to risk on the trains. A settlement of the six months dispute, which resulted in the dismissal of four thousand men, and lost Ireland five Hellions sterling, is now expected. , j Mr Lloyd George has telegraphed to * Father OTlanagan that the Irish Gov- I -eminent will afford him facilities to see! Griffiths, and that the c-ables will be | open to him to communicate with De Valera. He trusts that the outcome will be that the policy of violence and intimidation will be finally abandoned, I and that the coming Christmas season will lessen the passion which is pro-.-ducmg the present , hideous and un■CJhnstian strife.
