DUNEDIN, Dec. 13. An event unique in the history of the Roman Catholic Church in New Zealand was celebrated a* St. Joseph's Cathedral yesterday when two priests were formaly consecrated to the hierarchy. These 'were the Rt. Eev. Dr. Whyte, Bishop of Dunedin, and Dr. Liston, Coadjutor Bishop of AucKland. There was a brilliant array of Church, dignitaries and the Cathedral was thronged. The consecration was performed by Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington (metropolitan), assisted by Dr. Carroll, Bishop of Lismore (New South Wales)., and Dr. Cleary. Bishop of Auckland. There were also present in the Sanctuary Dr. O'Shea, Coadjutor Archbishop of Wellington; Dr. Brodie; Bishop of Chnstehurch; and other clergy. The occasional sermon was preached by Archbishop O'Shea.. In the evening the newly consecrated Bishop of Dunedin ! presided on the thr-Jie and an address lof welcome was presented to him.
