NEW YORK, Dec. 11 +h +-/^.i"po^ t T m di Plomatic circles tnat Chili and Japan are verging on an incident of considerable gravity, following upon a formal protest from Japan because she was not invited to attend the Magellan Straits celebration The protest stated that because of Japan's importance in the Pacific she feels keenly the slight, especially as two other naval powers, Britain and the United btates, will be invited to commemorate the discovery of the Straits.
