I Tbe next" rule considered prohibited members from donating trophies or contributing to any institution, except recognised clubs and societies. ~ Mr Dowling considered ihk rule unnecessary. If a member wished to give a donation for any special purpose j why. he asked, should it be necessary ! to ask the executive. ' The president did not think that the Tule was necessary. It was generally understood that a member was free ti> give to any object if he wished to do so. The secretary thought that if:this rule (25) was omitted, it was desirable t£at "trophies" should be included in Mr Dowhn^s amendment. To this Mr Dowling objected, as the. amendment ! had already been passed. • The president said that as matters now stood, members could subscribe in money or give a trophy for any object for which a permit had* beeit obtained from^ the executive to collect, and no limit was placed upon the amount that may be given. This left them free to give individual trophies if tl.ey pleased. The idea was to check canvassing, for subscriptions or trophieH. After further consideration it was decided to add after the word "sub- ' soription" in the amendment moved by Mr Dowling. "trophies." • Hule 25 was then struck out. It was decided that the rules as amended be adopted, printed in book form, and distributed amongst members. It was also decided thad; the association be registered ay an .unclassified society, under the Friendly Societies Act.
