CONSTITUTION AMENDED

PROVISION FOR DIRECT ACTION

(BY TELEGFAPII —PRksS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 14. An important decision* was arrived at by the conference of New Zealand Post and Telegraph Officers Asßociatiorl this morning, when a motion was passed to amend the constitution of the association) to allow of direct action being taken in times of a crisis. The proposed amendment will be .referred in the ordinary course to the membership of the association for confirmation by postal ballot. Should the members confirm the new constitution, the question) of the taking-of direct action at any given time will still depend upon the will of members as a whole, and will not be ordered ether by conference or executive on! their own initiative, the point being decided by a special ballot. OAMARU, June 14. At a large meeting of the Poet and Telegraph Officers' Association on Saturday night the following resolution was unanimously carried: "That this branch of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association unanimously supports the contention of the conference that the salaries of officers should receive immediate review, independent of any railway tribunal^ which may possibly last indefinitely, and the branch supports the conference in anw action they may decide^ upon."
