The first ascent of Mount Egmont this season took place yesterday (Tuesday), when a party made the journey from Dawson Falls. The day was gloriously favorable, and the climbers were rewarded by a treat such as comes Tarely in a lifetime. The party consisted of Mrs B. Cleland (Kaponga), Miss A. Hanna (Christchurch), and Messrs J. C. Tole (Auckland), Stuart Spence (Hawera), Douglas Fox (Okato), and J.A. and J. T. Inkster (Wanga*imi). A scheme is being considered whereby • ex-Naval officers will be enabled to purchase Admiralty trawlers by instalments. The secretary of the Mercantile Marine Service Association, Liverpool, invites all ex-R.N.R. officers (including skippers) who wish to participate in the yenture to ooiamunicate with him.
