PROHIBITION IN AMERICA
SAID TO BE FOLLOWED BY WAVE
OF DRUG-TAKING
BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT
LONDON, Nov. 4. The New York correspondent of The Times startlingly declares that, according to police and other reports, prohibition has been followed by a wave of increased drug-taking. Vice has trebled in such States as Colorado, Utah and Montana. Extreme Socialistic and Bolshevistic movements, particularly 1.W.W., are gaining ground, and a large percentage of lawabiding trade unionists are joining, believing that. prohibition is the outcome of anti-Labor movements. A new entry has been added to the police lists, namely, "death due to drinking wood alcohol."
