Yesterday (a Press message states) General Sir Andrew Russell, in reply to a deputation which waited on him last week, definitely refused to contest the Naoier seat.

Mr A. E. Campbell hag surely established a record (says the Wanganui Chronicle). On Wednesday, the twentyninth annual meeting of the Wanganui Freeaing Company was held, and for the twenty-ninth time Mr Campbell occupied the chair. He was the subject of congratulations and complimentary speeches by shareholders.

Speaking at the Kaupokonui Dairy Company annual meeting, the chairman paid a tribute to the memory of Mrs Membery, one of the best workers at annual meetings . for many years, who had fallen victim to the epidemic. Mrs Membery was always an enthusiastic supporter of the company, and, added the chairman, "one could almost say that the factory had partly belonged to her."
