DUNEDIN BEQUESTS.

The will of the late Mr Peter Smeaton, formerly of Sargood, Son and Ewen, who died this week, provides for bequests of £1000 v and all net income J therefrom for ten years for the benefit of New "Zealand soldiers engaged in the recent war, £200 t# annuities, for the Town Planning Society, £1006 to the Otago University j payable on the death of a legatee^ the income tf> be used for a research scholarship in science. An additional provisional bequest to the university will, it is hoped," bring the total sum to £-5000 for scientific research. The sum of £1000 is to be invested and the income paid to the Dunedin; Art Gallery Society for the purchase of oil and water color paintings.
