ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the above club was held in the Central Tea Rooms last evening. Mr C. J. Preston (president) occupied the chair, and tkere was a good attendance of members from all parts of the district. la moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (which has already been published) the chairman congratulated members on the successful year and the growing popularity of trotting in the district, which augured well for the future of the club.

A lengthy discussion took place over the advisablene&s. of the club securing a property (over which they had an option) for a course of their own. The general opinion was that whilst the property was in every way suitable for the purpose the time was inopportune for the club to take on a large liability. It was finally moved and carried that the option be allowed to lapse, and that a committee consisting of Messrs Washer, Lynskey > Corrigan, Johnstone and Honeyfield confer witli the Egmont Racing Club, with the object of making arrangements for the lease of the Egmont course for a fixed period.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr C. J. Preston; vice-president, Mr N. Morrin; treasurer, Mr N. Morrin; committee, Messrs J. Gray, G. Ford C. J. Kirk, J. C. Hobbs. E. A. Washer J. Grant, C. Arden, R. Hicks, W. Slattery. D. J. Goodwin. B. C. Gibson; stewards, Messrs G. Ford, W. J. Bradford J. Grant, E. A. Washer, J. C. Hobbs C Axden. W. Slattery. R. Hicks, M.' J. Lynskey, H. Crocker, A. C. Johnstone. Mr H. A. Lennon was re-elected auditor at the same remuneration as last year. The following new members were elected: Messrs J. Casserley J. A. Goodson D. Hurley, F. G. Chisnall B. L. .Toll, A. E. Brunnette T. C. Sutherland. H. V. Ward. W.E. Jones, G. H. Ryan, and F. Gillanders. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
