Guaranteed cows on account of other vendors made from £10 to £16, 2-year dairy heifers (Jersey) £15 other sorts £11 to £13. 4 At my Stratford yards on the 16th inst. I sold my auction a dairy herd on account of Mrs M. M. Shute. Although appearing rather low in condition the cows were all young and showing quality. There was a good attendance of buyers and a most satisfactory sale resulted. Best cows realised £15 to £29, backward sorts £9 to £12.

At Addington fat sheep sold at an advance on prices ruling on July 30th. There was a further advance in the price of fat cattle, the proportion of really prime being small. Good dairying cows' sold well. Pigs of all classes sold ivell. , ' Fat Sheep—Pnme wethers 50s to 60s. medium wethers 38s to 49s 6d unfinished wethers 31s 3d to 37s 6d, extra pnme ewe s _o 535, prime ewes 38s to 455, medium ewes 30s to 37s 6d, unfinished ewes 23s 6d to 295, hoggets 23s 9d to 38s. Pigs—Baconers, equal to lOd to 10_d per ib; porkers, equal to Is per lb.

At Burnside prime bullocks made £25 5s to £28 12s 6d, medium to good £18 10s to £22, light, and unfinished £15 to £17 ss, ru-ime heifers £15 10s to £18 15s, medium to good £12 15s to £14 15s, light and aged £10 10s to £11 10s.

Fat Sheer>—Prime advanced ss, medium about 2s 6d, and inferior Is to Is Pd, compared with last week ,but Is 6d, compared with last week, but the prices fell away somewhat towards the finish. Extra prime wethers 65s to 72s 6d, prime 55s to 625, medium to good 46s 6d to 525, light and unfinished 34s to ?%. Only a, few pens of ewes were offered, realising SOg to 37s 9d.

Pig.s—A small yarding met a ready saie at advanced late rates.

SALE OF FRIESIAN HERD

The Farmers'' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report: On Tuesday, 12th inst., we held a clearing sale, in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd.. on account of Mr C. C. Buckland, of the famous Monavale herd of Friesian cattle. Noth withstanding the restricted railway services 3 buyers from Australia and all parts of New Zealand were in attendance. The number of lot s totalled 179, for which there was very keen competition, most of the best lines being purchased: by buyers outside the 'Waikato. The following' are •some of the top prices realised:— Monavale Madeline Paxton 415gns, Monavale Maggie Paxton 370gns, and Monavale Rita Paxton 370gns_ Walter Hawker. Australia; Gem Oakland Maida, 213gns, H. R. Green, Palmerston North; Netberton Pontiac Prince, 190gns, ancl Monavale Nobiltje Veeman loOgns, A. J. Kidd. Waiuku ;* Monavale Maule De Kol 170gns, Neil Carter; J Monavale Evergreen Paxton 160gns, R. Reay. Morrinsville. The average for the 179 lots was £66 19& 6d. This confltitues a record for the Southern Hemisphere.
