HOME AGAIN
Men who returned by the Mamari and carntj on from New Plymouth this morning were welcomed by the Mayor (Mr E. I>ixon) at the station. In a brief speech he expressed the pleasure ifblt by the people of the town at their safe return. They had been abroad on the service o? their country and would now, he said, settle down in the lif© they had left when they went out. About twenty-five men. were on board the train- for stations further south ; and they were entertained and treated to light refreshments by members of the- Women's National Reserve. an attention \7hiofc. they heartily appreciated. The men who came to Hawera were Riflemen ASamson, Bashford, Douglas, Hearn, Hodren, Lay, Mahoney, Trudgeon, and Brown. Other district men who came by the Mamari were Corpl. F. Espiner (Manaia), Hiflemen T. King (Opunake), and H. L. Laurent (Normanby).
