.BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received July 24, &A 5a.m.) LONDON, July 17 (delayed). The libel action has in Edinburgh of Colonel W. E. Gordon against the Dundee People's Journal, which published an interview asserting that he had ordered the" Gordon Highlanders to surrender^ in the Mons retreat. Colonel Gordon denied the accusation and said he ordered' the men to fix bayonets and summoned them to follow him and break "through or perish, but a subordinate officer- countermanded the order. ..'..'■ Colonel Gordon was awarded £500 damages.'
