TOWN IMPROVEMENTS.
That Hawera is progressing steadily and solidly is evidenced by the amount of building going on in the business area. The motor trade, on e of the most important in the district, requires buildings of large area to accommodate the largely increasing number of cars in the town and surrounding country. Additions are being made to Mr W. O'Callagnan's garage in Regent street" which, when completed, will make it one of the most up-to-date garages in laTanakl- T°e storage space will be 100 feet by 45 feet, and at the back the workshop, 80 feet by 40 feet, with a row of six pits, giving ample accommodation for overhauling cars. For easier handling, an overhead tramway is being installed, whieli will lift an engine or fhe whole car itself, and carry it to any part of the workshop. At the side of the workshop the machine shop occupies a space of 25 feet by 30 feet Mr Geo. Wilkin, who i s well-known in" Hawera, wall be in charge of the workshop and will have a capable staff under him. Tho building is being done in reinforced' concrete, and should te completed in about six weeks.
