MATAPU.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Progress work on this line is not very rapid at present, and beyond a little bridge work at Te Roti there is very little doing. Water troubles in sinking for foundations and the shortage of skilled labor for bridge work have been a big drawback, and no doubt when these difficulties are overcome more rapid progress will be made.

The farewell social to be tendered to Mr and Mrs A. Peatson and family on Friday next promises to be a most successful function. Excellent arlangements have been made, and with cards, songs, and dancing a good time is assured to all.
