The evidence submitted at the department enquiry into the tramway ao cident went to show that, while the loadißg was hea yy on the car in question, it was nothing beyond what had been carried on fljae same class of car in the past. The cause of the trailer leaving the rails after the car and first trailer had passed (wex the points is still inexplicable, in ysfew of the -fact that the tram was runcmg on what is known as the "straight. >f Careful examination has shown the points at Heathcote loop to be in first-class condition. The cars and their equipment also had been proved to have been all right.
