ARARATA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Friday evening last, March 28, saw a large gathering at the Public Hall to welcome home two more of ou? soldiers who have returned from active service. Sergeant 0. Reid, N-Z-RB., and Gunner E. Hannah, N.Z.F.A., were the guests of the evening. Both men have seen considerable service, having left New Zealand some four.years ago, and their friends were pleased to see them looking so we.ll after their long and arduous experiences during their long time of duty. Mr Jas. Winks spoke a few words of welcome, and expressed the pleasure the Ararata settlers had in being able to honor the returned soldiers, and presented to each man a memento of the occasion. Sergeant Reid and Gunner Hannah suitably responded. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and dancing was indulged in to the strains of music provided by Mrs J. Winks. Mr Willan officiated as M.C: The hall was effectively decorated with ferns, flowers, and flags by a few friends.
