AUROA LADIES' GUILD
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
(From a Correspondent.)
The ladies of the Guild met last Thursday with a view to drawing to a close the patriotic sewing. They wish to thank all who have: helped them in any way, especially those who supplied the* meat, blocks of wood,: and the milk for the sale yard luncheon from time to, time. Then they have to thank all the auctioneers and buyers, who have been in every way most generous and extremely courteous. The Patriotic ■•Guild was formed in August, 1915. Covering over the three and a half £years the treasurer has handled roughly ,£562 income. Perfect harmony has always reigned, and though at times the#Guild have all wished the necessity for such sewing to cease, still everyone will have.many happy reminiscences of these "monthly meetings. The ladies, not wishing isuch good formed intentions % drop, have decided to start a new giiild. The aim of the new adventure is to sew for the orphanages in New Zealand, also Dr Barnardo's Homes. As the sale yard luncheons have been stopped, the funds will consist of the usual member's subscription of one shilling per week, so they would be very grateful for the support of all interested in this work. The same of-fice-bearers were unanimously elected, viz.: President, Mrs D. Poole; vicepresident, Mrs R. Dunn; secretary and treasurer, Miss Duff. The Guild trusts ! that it will have the interest of all the , ladies in Auroa, and again: would thank everybody who has helped in the past.
