NORMANBY.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

The thirty-sixth annual chow will be held on March 11 and 12, when it is confidently expected; there will be a record exhibition in aU._ classes. The ■schedules are now to hand, and upwards of 'Seven hundred have been

sent out through, the post. The secretary, Mr G. H. Mills, will be pleased to forward a copy to anyone who haa ■ inadvertently been missed. Special attention is drawn to the competitions to be held on the second, day, and I school teachers throughout the district are asked to kindly co-operate with • the executive in making those and the children's classes in the schedule, which are all of an educative nature, a success. The season has been favorable for the growth of most vegetables, especially potatoes, and it is Hoped that this year this important tuber will once again take a prominent part on the Bhow bench. At the last meeting of the executive ft was decided to meet every Friday evening until the show, and it is hoped that all members: of the com- j mittee will make a point of attending as there is much important work still to be done. NORMANBY'S MILE OF ROAD. For the information of your correspondent ''Do It, Do It Now," I may state that but fori the unfortunate storm last year which carried away two bridges in the Hawera County ] [this work would have been completed then, the county staff being at that time engaged on the work. However, arrangements have been made with the county authorities, and it is hoped that within the next few weeks the work will be completed to the entire satisfaction of "Do /It, Do It Now." • Your correspondent, when he made hie journey from New Plymouth to Wanganui, should have noticed several pieces of road1 as bad' if noii worse than Normanby'® mile. I OUR BOYS. ! During the last few day® I have had the pleasure of meeting several exNormanby boys who have lately returned from doing their duty to their King and country, and I am pleased to say that they are looking fit and well. The boys are Sergt. H. Stackhouise, Corpl. G. Green- and Private W. Matthews, and a hearty welcome is extended to them by their many old friends. , .
