Influenza has made its appearance at the military camps, and the sick parades on recent days have been larger than had been the case for some time past. The epidemic iB not taking a serious form (states the Wellington Post),- and no severe' cases have been reported. The syetem in the camps is to send patients to the hospital even when the ailment is very slight, in order that the spread of infection may be checked and the men kept under observation. The rules that are observed swell the hospital returns, but they have an excellent effect in reducing serious sickness. It is not often that three candidates are seen on the same platform in the heat of a by-election (remarks the Dominion). This happened at Mr H. Atmore's meeting in the Willis Street Schoolroom on Tuesday night. Mr C. W. Tanner and Mr L. J. Garmson were present, and at the invitation of Mr Atmore they occupied chairs beside the chairman and briefly Addressed the meeting after Mr Atmore had finished.
