GERMAN MANUFACTURES
EXHIBITS AT LEIPZIG FAIR
MANY SUBSTITUTES FOR PRE-
WAR MATERIALS.
GOODS SUPPLIED TO HOLLAND, SCANDINAVIA AND BALKANS.
(Received May 14, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 13. The Daily Chronicle's Amsterdam correspondent states that the annual fair at Leipzig was a decided success. There were many Bulgarian, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish buyers. No luxury articles, leather nor rubber goods were exhibited, but there were thousands of substitutes* especially for foods. German manufacturers are producing large quantities of cheap fancy goods made from substitute raw materials which are cheaper, more plentiful arid more durable than if made from the original raw material used before the war. !
It is not true that manufacturers are accumulating vast stocks- for foreign markets after the war. Factories are working under difficulties, but will not take long in getting busy after the war. Meantime they are supplying goods to Holland, Scandinavia, the Balkans and Turkey.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association.
